CADIANDA
Nearby the Fethiye district, at 20 kilometres, there is Uzumlu village. This village is very nice and specific, starting from a very high-quality grapes of which local Turkish population makes extremely tasteful homemade wine, to the ancient Roman settlement in the mountains that surrounds the village. Cadianda is a Lycian ancient city which dates from the 5th century BC. In the period after the city was built, Roman occupants came and they lived here at 400 meters above sea levels. What makes this city unique and characteristic in terms of historical significance is that it was the last city that joined to the Lycian Union over the time.
Visits to Cadianda can be truly an extraordinary adventure. Tourists here have the opportunity to see the ruins which are the remains of the Doric temple, but also the remains of tomb whose ruins attest to civilizations that once lived here. Near the temple, there is the bathroom, which dates from the time of the Roman emperor Vespasian. In this village, there is also a theatre that is not very big as theatres in other ancient cities but still reflects the culture of the inhabitants. At that time there was a stadium, but unfortunately, this one is totally ruined. This beautiful place is quiet and is not exposed to everyday tourist tours. People rarely go on a tour of this ancient city as it is still not enough promoted, although in fact is a true hidden treasure for all admirers of cultural heritage.
