Suluin Cave
Suluin Cave

Suluin Cave is around 32kms away from Antalya, not far from Karain. This is a mysterious cave is located south of the Taurus Mountains. The cave was closed from exploration back in 1955 because two divers had died during the exploration. Excavation restarted in 2007 under the direction of Harun Taskiran, but more recently the cave has been re-opened for the public in 2010. Suluin cave is a massive subterranean cave, that hasn’t been properly explored. When visiting please do get a guide. Underwater caving is an option here if you are a beginner, it is recommended to be an advanced explorer. Currently, the Antalya Akdeniz University is surveying the cave system. The mouth of the cave has fallen in, exposing most of its interior. Another fascinating feature that has been found here at these caves is that ancient artefacts from the Medieval to Bronze Ages have been found within the cave dwellings. It points to evidence that possibly ancient civilisations would have used this cave for storage or for habitat.

Among other amazing caves to visit here in Turkey that other travellers enjoy seeing are the Aslanli Cave, Beldibi Caves and Cimenici Cave.
