ASLANLI CAVE
The region of Antalya has many caverns and caves for travellers to explore but this particular cave has a lion of its own. To be more precise, it has a large stalagmite that resembles a seated lion. Hence, it’s name Aslani (meaning lion in Turkish) Cave. Located on the plateau of Kirazli Village and a 30-minute walk from it the cave has a 6-metre steep descent until you arrive at its horizontal part. The cave is about 110 metres long and dry. The floor of the cave is covered with muddy ground and with some rock blocks that fell from the ceiling so walk with caution to not slip or trip! There are many stalactites, stalagmites to admire, along with the rock formed drapery and flag travertine on the wall. Asthma sufferers will want to make a stop by the Aslanli cave, said to contain all the right gases to cure breathing problems.
From this particular cave, should you feel like doing a more adventurous caving experience head to Kibris Canyon, popular with most extreme sport doers but should you be looking for a more relaxed activity one can go explore the once majestic ancient Lycian cities of Aperlai Ancient City and Apollonia Ancient City.
