You will find on your way the Gelidonya Light House. This beautifully photogenic lighthouse is one of the tallest lighthouses in Turkey. Known to the locals as Taslik Burnu or Swallow Cape, this lighthouse was built by the French in 1936. It’s currently inhabited though there is a keeper that comes from Karaoz at dusk to light the lamp. If you look beyond the cape you will see the tricky islands of Bes Adalar, a group of islands that have been responsible for many wrecks. Including an ancient one that rendered a huge amount of treasure to archaeological divers during the 1960s. The shipwreck accounts date from the Early Bronze Age up to the 13th century. The area of the lighthouse is also particularly favourable to watch the sunrise or the sunset. Or even both if you plan to set a pleasurable picnic close to the peninsula.
