Kekova is a natural and protected bay on the Mediterranean Coast that is made up of the villages of Kalekoy, Ucagiz and the three ancient towns of Simena, Teimussa and Tersane. The whole area is immersed in ancient Lycian ruins and Turkish history. In 1990 the Kekova region was declared a fully protected area to ensure the preserving of the natural, cultural and geographic richness of Kekova Island and surrounding coast. It has been declared as off-limits to development to keep this area unspoilt in the true Turkish fishing and farming village tradition. The small village of Kekova is an absolutely idyllic setting set upon a bay amid beautiful islands and blue ocean. The whole area boasts a collection of ancient Lycian tombs which are scattered throughout the village and even have some submerged tombs that are easily accessible by boat. Kekova is a very popular stopover for many blue cruises and private yachts due to the stunning turquoise water, sun, unspoilt nature and history surrounding the whole area.
