TAHTALI MOUNTAIN

Tahtali Mountain
Tahtali Mountain

Back in the ancient times, this mountain was called Olympos, the home of the Greek Gods, a name that it shares with other sky-reaching mountains. Tahtali Mountain is hard to miss and a sight not to be missed when in Antalya. The ruins of the ancient city of Phaselis are at the foot of this 2365 metres high peak. Its Turkish name most likely derives from the Turkish “taht” which means throne. This peak also has the nickname of “from sea to sky” and when you look upon it, it does seem that way as this massive mountain stretches down to meet the coastline. One can take the strenuous hike up to the peak of the mountain or take hired transport that will drive you up the winding roads until the base camp and then switch to a cable car. During different times of the year, you can go skiing slopes of this mountain and then afterwards take a dip in the turquoise sea. Asides from these activities there is also paragliding available.

Turkish Mountains have spectacular views not only from the summit but also of the country’s beauty. Make sure to visit the natural wonders of Cirali, Goynuk Canyon and Sirtlanini Cave.
