St. Paul’s Way is approximately 500km long, a 27-day walk from Perge, which is about 10km east of Antalya, to Yalvac via Lake Egirdir. There is a second branch that starts from Beskonak via the entrance of the Koprulu Canyon National Park. It is the second-longest walking trails that you can do in Turkey and more challenging than the infamous Lycian Way. The trail is wilder than the Lycian Way. Along the trail, you will hike over Roman roads, footpaths, forest tracks. The trail is marked by red and white stripes. You will go through many Roman ruins and there are a few optional peaks to climb up. This trail was started back in 2008 to boost tourism but also to offer hikers insight into the countryside that Saint Paul travelled through on his first journey through Asia Minor. He was responsible for spreading Christianity to the Western World, journeyed along this route preaching Jesus word. They believe had St Paul not made these particular journeys then Christianity would have died out. Therefore he was a major influence on the religion back then and now.
The best period to come and attempt the route is during spring and autumn while the months of July-August are the hottest. Along the trail, one can find accommodation in village houses or small pensions. Along the trail, other points of interest include Aspendos, Koprulu Canyon and Selge Ancient City.
