Karaada - Black Island

Asides from enjoying the sea and fresh seafood you might want to try a natural beautifying experience. From Bodrum make your way to the Black Island. It is about 6 kilometres away. Don’t be confused by the name, as it is known as the black island the area itself is quite green and covered in pine. Known by the locals as Karaada, it is famous for its natural mineral water and mud baths. The water and mud here is believed to have healing properties for the skin. To add an extra pinch of mysticism it is said that Cleopatra used the mud from this island to beautify her skin. You might see other visiting female travellers smearing the mud over their faces to emulate the Egyptian Queen. After covering yourself up in the healing mud, make your way to the mineral springs at the cave. Take a dive into the exquisite thermal blue water to wash off the mud but also to replenish your skin. Towards the back of the island, there are some beaches and coves that you can take your time to relax on.

From this point, after you have finished your beauty bath you might want to continue exploring other areas along the coast such as Orak Island, Cokertme Bay and Seven Islands Kufreanduzun Liman.
