Located on the stunning Mediterranean coast, Fethiye is a large, bustling port city and commercial centre. The town was once an important city of Lycia. Ottomans, Romans, Seljuks and Byzantines fought constantly over the harbour town. Above the city centre, the gigantic tombs and castle ruins are floodlit at night, while an ancient theatre is evidence of the city's history and importance. Fethiye region is continuously being modernised and developed and has become an important hub providing access to nearby areas of Calis, Hisaronu and Ovacik, and the gorgeous Oludeniz beach with its blue lagoon.
