KOCAIN CAVE
The area of Antalya is rich with different types of activities to do. From beaches, historic sites to natural wonders. Among them is Kocain Cave, 45 km away from Antalya. This particular cave was inhabited by several different civilizations. During the prehistoric time, it served as shelter from the elements and attacks. While during the Christian time it was used for religious functions. It had since been forgotten but then rediscovered again in the 20th century. The cave is about 600 meters long, while its entrance is 20 meters high and 70 meters wide with a steep slope down into the main hall. From that point, the cave has two spacious saloons that you can walk into and explore. What is intriguing to note is that there are old cemented cisterns that are from the Roman period. There is also a range of inscriptions and cave paintings inside the case. Asides from the big collection of stalagmites that are shaded by the dim lighting, there is also a gorgeous white stalagmite next to the giant columns.
If you have enjoyed exploring this cave, other travellers have made a trip to do some caving visits to the Beldibi Caves, Cimenici Cave and Karain Cave.
